Join the Department of Algal Development and Evolution

There is a range of exciting opportunities to perform research in our lab, and we are interested in hearing from undergraduates, PhD students and postdocs who want to be part of our adventure. 

Postdocs

If you are interested in doing a postdoc with us, you should have published (or be close to publishing) at least one first-author paper in a major international journal. 
Please submit your application by email to office_coelho@tuebingen.mpg.de as a single pdf document. The email should include:

  • your CV
  • a cover letter outlining research interests, experience, why you are a good fit for the department and motivation for applying
  • the names and contact details of at least two academic references

For those who wish to apply for their own funding to join the group, there are several opportunities (e.g. EMBO, Marie Curie). We are happy to identify potential funding sources, discuss projects, help writing grants and prepare eventual interviews.

PhD Students

Please apply for PhD Projects via our PhD Program “International Max Planck Research School From Molecules to Organisms”. The annual application round opens in December.

Direct application outside the application round are also considered. Research experience is expected, either through a Master's degree, or other relevant research experience.
