Mass Spectrometry
The mass spectrometry facility is equipped with an ultra-high resolution QTOF mass spectrometer (Impact-II, Bruker) and a magnet resonance mass spectrometer with a dual ESI/MALDI ion source (scimaX, Bruker).
The scimaX can be used for conventional mass spectrometry analysis and molecular mass spectrometry imaging. Additional instrumentation includes a HPLC (UltiMate 3000, ThermoFisher Scientific) and UPLC (Elute UHPLC System, Bruker), as well as accessories for mass spectrometry imaging workflows, such as Leica cryostat, tissue scanner and matrix sprayer (HTX TM-Sprayer). Current applications focus on molecular imaging, targeted metabolomics and lipidomics. Further applications may include untargeted metabolomics, top-down and bottom-up proteomics, culturomics and isotope tracing.
Data processing is currently based on Bruker’s commercial packages, such as MetaboScape for metabolomics/lipidomics, SCiLS Lab (Core and Pro versions) for imaging analysis, Compass DataAnalysis for structural elucidation, Skyline for targeted metabolomics.
