Scientific Officer
The Executive Board is the central decision-making body of the Max Planck Institute for Biology Tübingen. Core duties include the ongoing development of the general scientific and administrative policies as well as long-term plans of the institute. In concordance with the Scientific Officer and Officer of the Management Board, the Directors interact closely with the insitute´s administration department regarding budgetary, personnel, and policy issues.
Every three years and on a rotating basis, another Director is assigned the Institute's primary administrative and managerial responsibilities. Since the year of 2022 Ruth Ley is the responsible Managing Director of the institute.
Scientific Coordination Office
Rebecca Schwab is the Officer to the Managing Director and also the Scientific Coordinator who assists in a variety of scientific administrative tasks, collaborating closely with the Administrative Director on various duties. She also heads the scientific core facilities and is responsible for providing a variety of services to the institute’s researchers.
Moreover, the Scientific Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the upkeep of current and implementing new, supporting infrastructure. In this capacity, Dr. Rebecca Schwab also manages central lab logistics, and interacts with the Max Planck Society headquarters in Munich and with local, national and international network partners.
