Ants in the ground

Open Positions
Insect Sex Determination and Development

We are always happy to hear from motivated and curious researchers at different career stages who are interested in our work. Our lab values scientific rigor, independence, collaboration, and creativity, and we welcome enquiries from candidates who are excited to contribute to and grow with the group.

Internships and MSc Projects

We welcome motivated Master’s students, including those interested in summer internships or MSc thesis projects.

If you are curious about our research and think the lab could be a good fit, please get in touch by email and include:

  • A CV
  • A short motivation statement describing your background and what sparked your interest in our research

PhD Positions

Prospective PhD students are encouraged to contact us directly to initiate a conversation. Please note that a “not currently recruiting” status on Miya’s IMPRS faculty page reflects the timing of the annual institute-wide recruitment round and does not indicate that the lab is closed to PhD recruitment.

To express interest, please email:

  • A CV
  • A brief motivation statement describing your background, research interests, and why you would like to join the lab

Formal admission to the lab takes place through the IMPRS program. We are happy to discuss potential projects and upcoming opportunities ahead of the official application round.

Postdoctoral Positions

We are excited to hear from postdoctoral candidates who bring new perspectives and expertise that connect to the lab’s research directions.

We can provide initial support and a stimulating research environment, and we strongly encourage postdoctoral researchers to apply for external fellowships (e.g. EMBO, HFSP, MSCA). The lab will fully cover research costs, and we are happy to support fellowship applications and project development.

Interested candidates should contact us with:

  • A CV
  • A short description of your research interests, relevant experience, and how your work would connect to the lab
  • Ideas for potential projects, which are not binding and can evolve through discussion
